The couple behind the 2004 lawsuit against the state of California banning same-sex marriage has filed for divorce.
Both women had been together for 14 years when they decided to do something to change the laws regarding same-sex marriage in the state of California. After the laws allowed for them to be legally married, they were one of the first couples who tied the knot.
Now, after three years together they have filed for divorce in Los Angeles. They do not believe that their divorce will have a negative impact on same-sex marriage, and they are hopeful to remember the good times of their marriage once the proceeding is finalized.
